Lanny & Sharon Fred

Returning for his 15th year Lanny retired
as a central office administrator for the Billings Public Schools. He
previously served as an Athletic/Activities Director in Helena,
Missoula, and Billings for a combined 18 years of service. Lanny
coached high school track & field for 13 years; from 1965 to 1972,
serving as Helena High's head Boys' Track & Field Coach. In 1990, Lanny
was named Western States Athletic Director of the Year, and received the
National Federation of High School Merit Citation Award. In 2001, he
received a Golden Pass Award from the Montana High School Association
for his many years of service as an Activities Director. Lanny
continues to serve as a Track & Field Meet Referee at State and
Divisional high school track meets.
For years Sharon Fred played a major role in organizing many aspects of
the State Games Track & Field event. She is also a top runner, each time
Sharon competed in the Big Sky State Games 5K, 100 meters and 200 meters
she won her age division. She has participated in the Montana Women's
Run for many years, winning the overall race once and receiving four
Super Master Gold Medals. Sharon retired in 1997 after serving as a
legal secretary with the Crowley Law Firm in Billings. |
